I appreciate your time and patience in trying to fix the issue. It could be due to corrupted system files or software issue. I am sorry to know that File Explorer Preview Pane is not working except for pictures. Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. Is there anyone that can help? I assume it's an issue somewhere in the registry and could look at my other system to compare if I knew where to look. I would rather NOT have to reload my system completely over something so trivial. "Show preview handlers in preview pane" IS checked. "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is NOT checked. I have tried resetting ALL of the View settings under Folder Options. I see other people posting similar questions, and have tried all solutions suggested under each. On my other Windows 8.1 system, I can preview MS Office documents, text files, PDFs, movies & music (and get control buttons for playing). no "No Preview Available" message or anything. I noticed that the Preview Pane in any File Explorer window is not working for anything but pictures. I have a new Windows 8.1 Pro PC and, after installing some software such as Office 2013 on it.
